Rep Team Evaluation Process
Sydney Minor Hockey provides for graded levels of involvement in our hockey programs. In Nova Scotia the levels are designated as AAA, AA, A or B and House Programs. The AAA, AA, A or B levels are tiered and players must undergo a rigorous evaluation (tryout) process. House programs are not tiered and all players in these programs will be evaluated as a group and teams of more or less equal skills formed. Players not intending to get involved in the Representative team selection process will be notified as to when to report for House team evaluations. All players will be evaluated by our coaches and placed in the program the coaches feel best suits the players skill level or level of desired involvement. The levels available in any hockey season depends on the number of registrations in that category. Rep team categories include: Atom, Pee Wee, Bantam and Midget There is no cost to parents for these evaluations. This tiering process begins at the AAA levels and moves to AA or A levels as the evaluations progress. Players intending to play at any Representative level must start at the AAA level and are graded from there by our coaching staffs and placed where they best fit for a positive minor hockey season. Procedure All players will be notified at registration when the evaluation process will start for their category. Players who wish to (tryout) must report approx. 45 minutes before the scheduled ice time. Players will be registered and issued a jersey number which will follow them through the (tryout) process. Coaches will start to move players to the next level after the first (tryout session) as they move down to the required number of players for their team. Evaluation results will be posted by 8pm the day following the on ice evaluation, players who may be returning for further evaluation or players being moved to the next level will be identified and times will be posted of when they are to report for their next on ice session. |
